Y a vece' e' Dolce, a vece' Bulgari
Cuando te lo quito despué' de lo' partie'
Las copa' de vino, las libra' de mari
Tú estás bien suelta, yo de safari
There are artists who desperately try to chase trends to maintain relevancy or as an attempt to be cool. They fail because, despite their pursuit, they are never the ones creating something novel. And then there are the truly inventive artists defining their sound and aesthetic not by emulating others, but by bringing forth their full creative vision and thereby, discovering a musical sound in our present age that extends beyond physical borders.
Tú muevе' el culo fenomenal
Pa' yo dеvorarte como animal
Si no te ha' venío', yo te vo'a esperar
En mi cama y lo vo'a celebrar
Bad Bunny is the latter type of artist whose global stardom and influence is undeniable. It would be impossible to talk about trap music and reggateon without mentioning Bad Bunny and his wide reaching impact. And that’s only his musical achievements. He’s also cemented himself as a gender fluid fashion icon complete with a sneaker collaboration with Adidas.
Baby, a ti no me opongo
Y siempre te lo pongo
Y si tú me tira', vamo' a nadar en lo hondo
Si e' por mí te lo pongo
De septiembre hasta agosto
A mí sin cojone' lo que digan tu' amiga'
“DÁKITI” is the song that I keep coming back to this summer. Despite its release last year, it still feels like the song of the summer. The type of song that blasts late into those long, hot summer nights. A rhythmic pounding beat comes in waves as a synth riff carries the dual verses of Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez. The song, along with the music video, effortlessly projects Bad Bunny’s tastes as modern and ultimately cool. An artist who has created his persona as exclusively unique and imaginative.
Mami, me tiene' juquea'o, sí
Si fuera' la Uru', me tuviese' parquea'o
Dando vuelta' por Condado, contigo siempre arrebata'o
Tú no ere' mi señora, pero
Toma cinco mil, gástalo en Sephora
Louis Vuitton, ya no compra en Pandora
Como piercing, a los hombre' perfora, eh-eh-eh
Bad Bunny ended up releasing two albums last year. “DÁKITI” is from the second of the aforementioned albums, “El ÚLTIMO TOUR DEL MUNDO,” which was written and recorded entirely during quarantine. The aptly titled album name, which translates to “the last world tour,” feels poignant in the sense that the year never really ended. But if Bad Bunny is gracing us with the last tour the world will ever witness, then “DÁKITI” is the decadent send off party that lasts all day.
