Song 37 // DAGR - "Cafe Racer" ft. Rebecca Black & LVL1
Want me so bad can't save me for later
Gripping you tight on your cafe racer
If you’ve been following my newsletter for a while, then you’ll know I left my job last year and went back to grad school for film. And of course, if you follow this newsletter then you know I’m passionate about music and love to share songs, artists, and concert recommendations. Well, this summer I’ve been working on combining both of these passions.
In the back room of the hotel rager
I'll be real nice let me do you a favor
Earlier this summer, I had the chance to work on the set of DAGR’s music video for their song, “Cafe Racer,” from their newly released album “Fade on Back.” DAGR consists of Ceci G and Veronika Jane, two electronic music producers from Texas who are now based in Los Angeles. The duo have produced and written songs for various artists and “Cafe Racer” displays their talent and collaboration with other artists. The song features vocals by both LVL1 and Rebecca Black, the latter appearing in the music video as she dances from the bed of a neon green truck.
Want me so bad can't save me for later
Head rolled back sticky wet I savor
Got me so hot on my bad behavior
Feeling real nice let me do you a favor
The song is an electronic banger of a track that would light up any dance floor or warehouse party. A song for all those late summer nights when the sun has already gone down but the heat of the day still lingers. The music video follows a neon green truck around Los Angeles as various people have their own interactions with the truck from a “pool party” on the side of the highway, to a makeshift barbershop, and a romantic date at sunset. Check it out below.
The making of the music video was a wild, fun adventure as we raced across LA to film in various locations. Each person/group in the video consisted of a new location and truck setup. Underwear guy probably stole the show in terms of pure bizarreness and silly production design (once you see the video above, you’ll know what I’m talking about). But if you are interested in checking out more about the making of the video then watch the behind the scenes video I made.
Lights out baby know you better do your best
